Robert Frank is considered one of the best-known American photographers, his photo book THE AMERICANS, published in 1958, a comprehensive documentation of America and its inhabitants. Later, Frank also devoted himself to film and began making mainly independent films and videos with or about artist friends.
Since the early 1990s, he has been working with editor Laura Israel - who supports the spirit and directness of Frank's visual language and translates it for him. DON'T BLINK is Israel's portrait of her friend and colleague. DON'T BLINK is also the portrait of an artistic life's work, a glimpse into a life whose maxim is and has always been contemporary art. Music, photography, film and video art - DON'T BLINK shows Frank with friends like Jack Kerouac, the Rolling Stones, Ed Lachman. And it shows him with his wife June Leaf, who is also an artist herself.
