Synopsis

FRIDA (Shulamit Adar), an Eastern-European Jewish woman of 75, is losing her memory and mixes past with present times.

JUDITH (Miou-Miou), her daughter, has chosen not to work to raise her children. Being divorced and now facing simultaneously her younger son's departure and her mother's ageing, she questions her utility.

SIMON (Charles Berling), Frida's son, though accurate in analyzing the society as a journalist, does not grasp his daughter's blossoming nor his mother's ageing.

When Frida returns to her former apartment, where she believes she would find her husband, although he passed away some years before, she meets MANOU (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), her landlady, who is waiting for an important promotion.

The coming back to this apartment will allow these characters to discover each other and themselves.

LES MURS PORTEURS (CYCLES) is a chorus movie about transmission and identity, which portrays a Jewish family of three generations.
